When a baby is labeled “Posterior” it simply means the baby’s back is against your back, and it can be a huge pain in the a**..literally! If you are struggling with persistent lower back pain there is a good chance your baby is posterior.
Posterior babies aren’t bad. In fact posterior babies are born all the time! But it can effect your labor. Posterior babies often will give you:
The dreaded back labor.
But fear not! There are plenty of ways to help encourage that baby of yours to spin around!
Here are a few positions to try.
Cat-Cow:
Forward Leaning Inversion: THIS ONE IS SUPER IMPORTANT!!!
Tabletop is another, which is basically just being on your hands and knees. You can rock around front to back, side to side, and get groovy with it, to try to cradle that baby snugly into the front of you.
Puppy Pose: with or without your arms extended.
Side-lying Release:
I love this for all who are near their due date! This is a technique that can help relax the ligaments and open up the lower area of the pelvis, making more room for baby to drop down! You will need a partner or two to help you do this! But please try it! Click here for accurate instructions
